Meeting my 1 mth cousin’s twin son

18 11 2007

Today is my book in day. I just realised that I have NOT book in to Keat Hong Camp for 1 month. Suddenly, I simply forget on what to bring to camp. Well, I simply need time to adjust back to my life in Singapore.

By the way, I just came back from my cousin’s house. My cousin’s wife has just given birth to a twin (dsc00094.jpg). I have always wanted to have a twin if I manage to get married. (Well, I am not hinting anything!) I simply love to see their similar characteristics. When I left my cousin’s house, the heavy rain pours. Then, I was stunned when I saw heavy downpour. I just realise I am in Singapore but not Rockhampton. At Rockhampton, you will only find 15 mins drizzle. If you see a heavy downpour, it indicates imminent floods are likely to occur.

A question to ponder…

It is indeed an fulfilling experience to be able to rest for 6 consective days. For these days, I enjoy being a full-time civilian who has complete freedom of what he does. Well, I have to wait for a period of 1 yr 3 mths.

Yesterday, I met up with Kevin at Creative sales. I bought a digital camera which I have been waiting to buy for a long time. Although it is quite worthwhile to buy that digital camera, I felt a pain in my pocket. That is, I have been spending quite a hefty sum of money these days. Well, I will strive to find means to earn the money back.  We were buzy chatting with one another to patch up for my ‘1 month disappearance’. He then pointed out one interesting question which most people will shun away. That is, what if the one that you love deeply asks you to be her bestman (in the context of me) for her wedding? How would you handle this scenario if it happens to you? Well, I have pondered over this case and I will not reveal my opinion.

I am back!!!

Finally, I reached Singapore Changi Airport at 0230 after incessant countdown of the number of days to reach homeland. When I reach home, I could sense the vast differences (as listed below) between Rockhampton and Singapore.

  1. Singapore’s weather is humid while Rockhampton’s weather is dry. Thus, I hardly sweat in Rockhampton even though the sun is scorching.
  2. The ‘natural attraction’ in Rockhampton is the houseflies who keep annoying me. Yet, you will probably find them at outfield in Singapore.
  3. The ants in Rockhampton are not attracted to sweet food unlike Singapore’s. They prefer to prey on insects.
  4. In Singapore, BBQ sausages and BBQ sausages with bread are still known as hotdogs. In Rockhampton, BBQ sausages are known as kebana while BBQ sausages with breads are hotdogs.
  5. In Singapore, the shopping centers are distinctive. Yet, in Rockhampton, you could not distinguish warehouses and shopping centers.
  6. In Singapore, the lodging areas for tourists are hotels. In Rockhampton, tourists search for motels instead of hotels. The number of motels outweighs the number of hotels.
  7. In Singapore, the taxi charges is 10 cents per 200 m. (est.) In Rockhampton, the taxi charges is 10 cents per eye blink.
  8. In Singapore, the sun usually rises at 7 am. In Rockhampton, the sun rises at around 5 am.  Thus, I will definitely wake up before 9 am (Australia time) during non-training hours.  This is due to the fact that the sun is baking at that time. They are even daylight savings in Rockhampton.
  9. In Singapore, you could search for burgers at Burger King. In Rockhampton, you will find the similar fastfood restaurant at Hungry Jacks.
  10. In Singapore, you will find big supermarkets at NTUC Fairprice, Cold Shortage, Sheng Siong, Giant. Yet, in Rockhampton, you will find big supermarkets at coles, Kmart, Big W, Woolworths.
  11. In Singapore, you will find escalators and lifts in shopping centers. In Rockhampton, these are non-existent.

In view of all these differences, do give me some time to adapt to my homeland. Thanks.
